29th of March

This is a summary of Front-end Forum held on Wednesday the 29th of March, 2023.

Forum summary

This time the forum gathered about 12 persons physically in Samhandlingssonen, and 18 on Teams. This is a record attendance  for Teams-participants and the re-branded Front-end Forum. Thanks for showing up, do spread the knowledge and the word about Front-end Forum.

Topics that we covered during this session were:

30 minutes

We managed to put a lot of information into this 30 minute session, even though we skipped a session last week.

  • Core 30 had two big releases since last
    • v2.1 and v2.2
    • Multiple improvements, and bug fixes.
    • Lots of new Icons
    • Even a new component: Link List
    • Read the release notes
    • Follow #core-components
  • Form Patterns is now "stable" in Figma.
    • Follow #form-patterns
    • Moving on for Phase 2 that will cover things related to validation and help.
    • Join the conversation on #form-patterns
    • Collab-session with us front-enders on the 26th of April!
    • More details to come.
  • Custom Parts version 2
    • Instead of just loading a client-side app, mounted in a div, it can do SSR and custom form for the editor.
    • Being tested out
    • Uses react4xp library, that has matured a lot, developed by Enonic.
    • Early alpha but looks promising.
    • Reach out if interested.
    • More info to come.
  • UU / Accessibility
    • More focus in Gjensidige
    • WCAG 2.1 is as of February law to follow by all governmental websites
    • UU-tilsynet in Norway makes sure business follow these. They are not super-strict, so don't panic, but also do what you can to grow your UU skills.
    • Read our basics
    • A larger training-session is being planned for Gjensidige on this.
    • Most likely employees only, most likely only Norway-based staff, and only a limited group of mixed disciplines. But videos will be made available afterwards.
    • Follow #accessibility
  • Releases
